AR.T Trail by The Meshminds Foundation x Facebook Spark AR x National Arts Council in collaboration with Artwalk Singapore for Singapore Art Week 2020.
Public art humanises the built environment, providing opportunities for telling stories of culture and placemaking that connect the past with the present, and potentially the future. In Singapore, Tanjong Pagar-Raffles Place district is home to public art created by some of Singapore’s pioneer artists. Harnessing the storytelling power of immersive media, AR.T Trail re-tells these stories of six public artworks in the Central Business District. The experience is the result of a three-month collaborative effort between artists and current generation creative technologists at MeshMinds.
AR.T Trail is Singapore’s first-ever public art walking trail powered by augmented reality. Re-discover the cultural and historical narratives through physical and digital layers and re-connect with the urban environment. During the immersive AR.T Trail, participants were equipped with the user-friendly SPARK AR platform via Facebook empowering them to inject life into the public art sculptures. Alongside our insightful guides, participants were also treated to Singapore’s rich maritime history reflected through its influence on the architecture of the CBD.
